The sort of tourists we are getting are those who take a picture of the statue of Ibn Khaldun and title it ‘Mohamed’, or can’t be bothered to ask what the buildings of Sadiki College are and thus decide to call them ‘parliament’. It’s really sad that a country like ours where some of the world’s finest civilisations have flourished can only manage to attract those budget travellers who have no interest whatsoever in learning. Mass tourism is such a disaster!
