Islam entre fond et forme

Je me permets d’emprunter la jolie métaphore de MedChekib et de faire suite a la réflexion de DramaR pour parler de la crise que traversent actuellement les sociétés musulmanes. Je ne sais pas comment la qualifier; est-elle intellectuelle? culturelle? identitaire? symptômatique d'un échec post-colonial? tout ça a la fois?

Toujours est-il que, être musulman, aujourd’hui, c’est surtout le monter et le démontrer. Les gens éprouvent le besoin d’afficher leur religiosité ainsi que la ‘rigueur’ de leur pratique quotidienne pour gagner une certaine réputation de personnage pieux et (donc) au dessus de tous soupçons. Alors vous avez : la bonne dame qui organise son petit cercle de dhekr dans le cadre d’une 3echwiya, le contact facebook qui vous balance tous les matins une dizaine de vidéos ‘ayna anta menhou’ ou 'onshorha wa lakal ajr'; l’autre qui affiche sa photo entrain de faire la prière ou de sortir de la Mecque; le bloggeur qui prend la peine d’organiser une journée ‘nosratann lil islem’…bref, dans notre pays le ridicule n’a pas de limite.

Notre société est hypocrite, comme toutes les autres d’ailleurs. Vivre en société c’est surtout jouer un rôle et c’est ‘normal et naturel’ vous dira n’importe quel sociologue. Mais là où ça devient grave, c’est lorsqu’une catégorie de personnes décide des règles de ce jeu de rôles et les impose aux autres. C’est notamment le cas de tous ces gourous du golfe actuellement a la mode et qui contrôlent tout un réseau de chaînes satellitaires et de contacts gouvernementaux, commerciaux et bancaires. Avez-vous déjà entendu parler d'une fatwa turque, azérie, malaisienne, indienne, ou même tunisienne tiens ? Non. Le fric ne se trouve pas dans ces pays là.

C’est à cause de ces personnes et de la puissance qu'ils ont fini par acquérir que le culte musulman est devenu totalement vide de sens. Il se limite désormais à la forme, enfin, à UNE forme décidée par ces énergumènes. Le fond, la spiritualité qui est l’ingrédient primaire de toute religion est une notion tout à fait étrangère aux musulmans d’aujourd’hui. Ils vivent souvent avec un sentiment de culpabilité ; la culpabilité de ne pas correspondre au schéma de vie prescrit par ces charlatans et leurs suiveurs. La culpabilité de répondre à des besoins biologiques de base. Et je ne parle même pas de l’état des non-musulmans qui eux n’ont pas le droit d’exister dans le monde de ces faux-puritains. Enfin si, pourvu qu’ils ne se manifestent pas.

Evidemment le fait que la critique soit totalement occultée de notre système d’éducation n’aide pas beaucoup à faire face a ces discours hégémoniques. La philo, ainsi que toutes les matières dites ‘littéraires’ sont complètement opprimées dans notre éducation au profit des sciences dites 'exactes'. Or, en fin de compte nous n’avons acquis ni la science ni sa critique.

    Le fond et la forme est un sujet de débat; je serai moins personnellement enclin à les opposer qu'à dire "le forme est le fond qui monte à la surface" ?

  • Les gens du Golfe ne sont pas forcément les plus dangereux... c'est une sorte de poncif qui se développe depuis un certain temps et qui, même s'il a certainement une part de vérité, ne doit pas donner l'illusion aux gens qui lisent cela que leurs problèmes viennent d'un endroit précis de la surface du globe. Beaucoup de gens attendent qu'on leur dise que leurs problèmes viennent d'ailleurs plutôt que d'eux-mêmes ! Alors même si tu ne dis pas que cela bien entendu, tu peux être sûr que c'est ce qui sera retenu dans ton discours car c'est l'idée favorite du moment et qu'une idée suffit en général, d'autant plus quand elle permet de ne pas porter le regard sur soi.

    Ma deuxième remarque concerne le fait de montrer et démontrer sa religion. Même si cela conduit à des attitudes que l'on peut qualifier de problématiques, il n'y a là rien d'étonnant. Ce qui est naturel en l'homme c'est la spiritualité, le fait de se poser des questions et y apporter des réponses personnelles. Tu es paysan au fin fond d'une campagne à une époque indéterminée... tu vas finir par regarder le ciel en espérant que tes récoltes ne vont pas être détruites... tu regardes la montagne avec crainte parce qu'elle gronde lorsqu'il y a du tonnerre... tu penses à tes ancêtres morts et tu espères qu'ils t'inspireront de là où ils sont... tu galères pour survivre et te dis que s'il y avait autre chose de mieux après ce serait au moins un réconfort. Tout cela s'appelle la spiritualité ; c'est quelque chose de relativement informel, d'assez simple et souple et de très personnel. La religion c'est autre chose ; c'est beaucoup plus formel, plus ritualiste, plus sophistiqué dans la forme, ... et en définitive c'est éminemment social. La religion est un fait social, d'où la tendance logique à montrer et démontrer. La religion est communautaire quand la spiritualité ne l'est pas systématiquement. La religion impose la communauté avec un certain nombre de gestes à accomplir en commun, avec une liste de gestes permis ou interdits qui s'appliquent à tous et implique la possibilité d'un contrôle. Dans le système religieux, chacun se retrouve, en fonction de ce qu'il comprend de la religion, en position d'évaluer son propre comportement ainsi que celui des autres. Les religions permettent, par leur structure si ce n'est par leur teneur, le jugement des gens entre eux, que ce soit entre coreligionnaires, entre croyants de diverses religions ou encore entre croyants et athées. Les religions s'attachent en outre globalement à démontrer que l'on développe sa spiritualité essentiellement par des rites, ce qui aura forcément tendance à favoriser la démonstration. Enfin ces rites ne sont pas désintéressés puisqu'ils sont supposés nous rapprocher du principe divin ; c'est donc là encore une prime renforcée aux gestes et à tout ce qui en découle. Il ne faut pas avoir peur de dire que la spiritualité n'est pas exactement superposable à la religion ; la spiritualité c'est dans l'absolu la Liberté de conscience. La religion c'est l'acceptation d'un schéma préconçu. On entre dans ce schéma plus ou moins volontairement mais on n'est à l'évidence plus exactement dans quelque chose de spontané et qui serait exclusivement personnel. Dans ces conditions il faut s'attendre à des ingérences au nom de fondements - les textes saints - qui sont supposés acceptés par tous.
    Alors bien sûr on pourra toujours dire que les religions développent la spiritualité mais elles sont souvent contradictoires, faisant osciller du personnel au collectif, permettant à la fois de garantir une forme d'autonomie personnelle et générant des contraintes sous le regard d'autrui.

    L'apprentissage de la critique est fondamental en effet... mais critique et religion s'accordent mal, de même que science et religion ne s'accordent que dans la mesure où la première sert la seconde. C'est une problématique interne ; chaque groupe doit apprendre à fixer la place du religieux dans les rapports sociaux.

    Je découvre ton blog par hasard, et je suis très ému parce que j'y trouve. Je ressens souvent des sentiments similaires quand je vois la société actuelle au Maroc ou en France, je crois que tous les pays connaissent cette déliquescence spirituelle, culturelle et identitaire actuellement. Il faut aussi comprendre que les gens ont besoin d'être accepté par les autres, leurs voisins, leur milieu, ... Et que, pour cela, ils doivent se faire remarquer, non en étant différents, mais en se coulant dans le moule. C'est un phénomène qui existe depuis longtemps, chacun espère s'attirer l'admiration des autres !

    En ce qui concerne l'esprit critique des hommes, je te conseille de lire "Le Gai Savoir : livre premier" de Nietzsche (le seul ouvrage de lui que j'aime bien), où il parle de la conscience intellectuelle. A son époque, il déplorait déjà que les gens n'avaient aucun sens critique (et dans l'Allemagne du XIXe, qui était l'un des plus riches culturellement, tu te rends compte !) ce qui montre que les hommes ne changent pas !

    Je ne crois pas qu'il faille s'en désespérer : tant qu'il y en aura quelques uns qui pensent, - comme toi, tout n'est pas perdu. Et d'autre part, ceux qui sont moins sensibles à la spiritualités ont d'autres sensibilités : les qualités de chacun sont là pour enrichir la société.
